Ecotherapy Sessions

What is Ecotherapy?

Ecotherapy, often referred to as nature therapy or forest therapy, is the intentional practice of reconnecting with the natural world to support your emotional, mental, and physical well-being. It is rooted in the understanding that humans are not separate from nature; we are a part of it. When we step outside for guided forest bathing (inspired by the Japanese tradition of shinrin-yoku), we invite the nervous system to drop out of fight-or-flight mode and return to a state of calm, clarity, and ease.

Unlike traditional talk therapy confined to four walls, somatic ecotherapy uses the natural world as a living partner in the healing process. Sessions incorporate mindfulness in nature, sensory awareness, and somatic grounding practices that quiet a racing mind and gently bring you back into your body. The focus isn't on fixing or analyzing, but on slowing down to mirror nature’s natural cycles of rest, growth, and renewal.

This nature-based healing takes many forms, from immersive local nature walks and one-on-one forest therapy sessions to community circles and self-guided practices. Ultimately, it offers a pressure-free space to breathe, rediscover your rhythm, and remember that you already belong here.

How long are the sessions?

Colorado ecotherapy sessions are offered in 60- or 90-minute formats, allowing you to choose the pace and depth that aligns with your wellness goals.

  • The 60-Minute Session: Provides a focused, restorative experience. It is ideal for a lunch-break reset or a busy week, offering targeted somatic grounding, mindfulness, and a gentle reconnection with nature.

  • The 90-Minute Session: Offers an extended, deeper dive into burnout recovery. This format gives your nervous system more time to fully settle in, allowing us to explore what arises during the forest bathing immersion at an unhurried, natural rhythm.

Both private session options include guided outdoor mindfulness practices, space for quiet reflection, and personal integration notes sent afterward to help you seamlessly carry your nature therapy tools back into your daily routine.

Where do the sessions take place?

Our Colorado ecotherapy sessions are held in peaceful, carefully selected outdoor settings throughout Fort Collins, Greeley, Boulder County, and the Denver Metro area. Each location is chosen to offer maximum privacy, calm, and a direct connection to the natural world—whether we are meeting on a quiet forest trail, a riverside path, or an open meadow.

Before your nature therapy session, we will discuss your comfort level, mobility, and personal preferences to select the perfect Colorado backdrop for your experience. Some clients look for complete immersion in deeper woods, while others prefer the easy accessibility of local parks or botanical areas. The intention is always the same: to find an outdoor space that supports slowing down, somatic grounding, and reconnecting with yourself.

You do not need to be an experienced hiker or backcountry outdoorsperson to experience the benefits of forest bathing; ecotherapy meets you exactly where you are. Whether you are sitting beneath a pine tree, walking mindfully along a flat path, or simply practicing stillness, the Colorado landscape itself becomes a living partner in your healing process.

What should I bring?

Come exactly as you are. For the best Colorado forest bathing experience, we recommend dressing comfortably in seasonal layers and bringing a hat or sunscreen to ensure you feel completely at ease outdoors. You are also welcome to bring a journal or notebook if you want to capture insights during our post-session reflection, though it is entirely optional.

To support your comfort, a clean blanket or trail chair will be provided based on your mobility preferences and our chosen outdoor ecotherapy setting. Everything is handled so you can focus entirely on your somatic grounding and restoration.

As a core part of this digital detox and burnout recovery practice, you are invited to leave your phone behind—either in your vehicle or tucked away in a backpack. This small act of intentional disconnection helps you fully unplug from daily stressors, quiet your mind, and deepen your immersive connection to the Colorado landscape.

Are the sessions personalized?

Yes. Every nature therapy session is entirely customized to meet your unique goals, physical comfort, and mental health needs. Before we head outdoors, we will discuss what you are hoping to experience, explore, or release—whether your primary focus is burnout recovery, navigating a major life transition, or learning practical tools for nervous system regulation.

Your experience is then custom-tailored around those personal intentions and the specific season of life you are moving through. Because no two journeys are identical, each private ecotherapy session meets you exactly where you are that day, allowing the Colorado landscape and your own inner awareness to guide the somatic healing process.

What happens after the session?

Following your private ecotherapy session, you are welcome to spend extra time in nature on your own. Many clients choose to stay at our Colorado meeting site to journal, meditate, or simply sit quietly and let the benefits of forest bathing settle in. I will ensure you feel deeply grounded and comfortable before I leave so you can continue your outdoor integration at your own pace.

Afterward, you will receive personal integration notes outlining the custom tools, somatic practices, and reflections we explored together. These are designed to help you seamlessly weave your outdoor mindfulness experiences into your daily routine, bringing a lasting sense of calm to your career and relationships.

Ecotherapy is a somatic practice that is most transformative when experienced regularly. We encourage clients to book recurring nature therapy sessions as a foundational part of their ongoing burnout recovery and holistic wellness routine—offering a sustainable, restorative way to maintain nervous system regulation through every season of life.
