Ecotherapy Sessions
What is Ecotherapy?
Ecotherapy is the practice of reconnecting with the natural world as a way to support emotional, mental, and physical well-being. It’s rooted in the understanding that humans are not separate from nature; we are part of it. When we spend intentional time outdoors, we begin to remember that connection. The pace of the natural world invites us to slow down, regulate our nervous system, and find calm and clarity in the present moment.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, ecotherapy uses nature itself as the setting and partner in the healing process. Sessions often include guided reflection, mindfulness, sensory awareness, and grounding practices that help quiet the mind and bring us back to the body. The focus isn’t on analyzing or fixing, but on noticing and experiencing. In nature, we can see our own cycles mirrored—the change, rest, growth, and renewal that remind us we’re not meant to be in constant motion.
Ecotherapy can take many forms, from guided group experiences and one-on-one immersions to virtual and self-guided sessions that can be done from your own backyard or favorite local park. Regardless of the format, the intention is the same: to help you feel supported, reconnected, and more at ease within yourself and your surroundings.
At its core, ecotherapy is about returning to something simple and universal: the healing relationship between humans and the earth. It offers space to breathe, listen, and rediscover balance—without pressure, performance, or perfection. Just you, the natural world, and the quiet reminder that you already belong here.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are offered in 60- or 90-minute formats, allowing you to choose the pace and depth that feels right for you.
The 60-minute session provides a focused and restorative experience, perfect for grounding, reflection, and gentle reconnection with nature. The 90-minute session offers more time to settle in, explore what arises during the immersion, and move at an unhurried, natural rhythm.
Both options include guided practices, time for reflection, and personal integration notes sent afterward to help you carry the experience into your daily life.
Where do the sessions take place?
Sessions are held in peaceful outdoor settings throughout Fort Collins, Greeley, Boulder County, and the Denver Metro area. Each location is carefully chosen to offer a sense of calm, privacy, and connection to the natural world, whether it’s a quiet forest trail, a riverside path, or an open meadow where you can feel the sun and wind.
Before your session, we’ll discuss your comfort level, mobility, and preferences to select a space that feels right for you. Some clients enjoy being fully immersed in nature, while others prefer easy access spots like local parks or botanical areas. The intention is always the same: to find a place that supports slowing down, grounding, and reconnecting with yourself.
You don’t need to be an experienced hiker or outdoorsperson; ecotherapy meets you where you are. Whether sitting beneath a tree, walking mindfully along a path, or simply being still, the environment itself becomes part of the healing process.
What should I bring?
Come as you are, just dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. Layers, sunscreen, or a hat can help you feel at ease outdoors. You’re welcome to bring a journal or notebook if it feels supportive to write or reflect after the session, though it’s entirely optional.
I’ll provide a blanket or chair depending on your preferences and the setting we’ve chosen, so you’ll have what you need to feel comfortable and cared for throughout your time in nature.
As part of the restorative practice, I invite you to leave your phone behind, either in your car or tucked safely away in a bag that I can hold for you during the session. This small act of disconnection helps you fully arrive in the moment, free from distraction, and deepen your connection with yourself and the natural world around you.
Are the sessions personalized?
Yes. Each session is thoughtfully customized to meet your specific goals, needs, and requests. Before we begin, we’ll talk about what you’re hoping to experience or explore, whether that’s finding calm, processing change, feeling more grounded, or simply creating space to breathe.
Your session is then shaped around those intentions and the season of life you’re in. No two experiences are the same; every session meets you where you are that day, allowing nature and your own awareness to guide the process.
What happens after the session?
After your session, you’ll have the option to spend a little extra time in nature on your own. Many clients choose to stay where we met to reflect, journal, or simply sit quietly and let the experience settle in. I’ll ensure you feel comfortable and grounded before I leave so you can continue your time at your own pace.
Following your session, I’ll send personalized notes outlining the tools, practices, and reflections we explored together. These are meant to help you integrate what you experienced and carry that sense of calm and connection into your everyday life.
Ecotherapy is most powerful when practiced regularly. You’re encouraged to book sessions as part of your ongoing wellness routine—a simple, restorative way to stay grounded and connected to yourself through every season of life.
